Municipal Election Date Change
Municipal elections are nonpartisan and held in April of even years to prevent confusion with November elections. Moving them to November could introduce partisanship, undermine fairness and trust in local democracy, contribute to ballot fatigue, and expose city council races to the political influences seen in state and federal elections.
If this ordinance is approved, the terms of Councilors Ulibarri and Wooden and Mayor Badagliacco will each be extended by seven months.
