City Clerk

Council Approval

Election integrity is a crucial aspect of good governance and local elections. Ensuring city elections remain nonpartisan and free of interference is key to the quality of life and well-being of all Montrose residents. The current Manager-Councilor structure prevents the city council from overreaching. It ensures a qualified, experienced city manager oversees the appointment, discharge, and day-to-day management of the city clerk, who oversees municipal elections. Changing the charter so the city council ultimately approves the appointment/discharge of the city clerk risks special interests from council members who are not trained professionals in local government management.
